Euka Isawa

Euka Isawa started the export of sake of her family's brewery "Katsuyama" from New York at the age of 21, and is currently in charge of overseas. Katsuyama brewery currently exports to 25 countries, with about 40% of its sales coming from overseas. She is an international sake sommelier and has completed technical executive course for sake brewing. With a background in chemistry, she has started her own company while a student at the University of Tokyo's Faculty of Economics, and later dropped out, developed “MiCURA” the world's first and only brand of sake home brewing kit and marketed it globally. A member of the Sake Brewers Association of North America (SBANA). She is trilingual in Japanese, English, and Chinese. Since 2021, she has also been a lecturer of sake brewing class at Chang Gung University, a science university in Taiwan. Since 2022 she has been a co-host of the Mainichi Newspaper Refalover's business executive talk event program. In 2023, she opened a restaurant in her hometown of Sendai, renovated from an old sake brewery. She also is designing and managing a microbrewery (opening in spring 2024). Loves sake, a work of art that exists between the sensibilities of humanity and science, but she's a bit of a lightweight when it comes to alcohol.
